Learning objectives

Before going into specific learning objectives, there is one that is for me very important during the whole course: reflection. In our University College we find this very important. I do this a lot, but now I will be obliged to do this in a blog, in an open learning environment. This is very new to me. I want to experience this and make a note for my colleagues about this experience and discuss this in our University College.

Week 4 and 5

In this week we will work on a shared document about the pro and cons of e-learning in general and specific for our course.

  • It is important for me to get some more knowledge and theoretical background of e-learning. Therefore I will read as much as possible about this, but at least McDonnell, because this seemed very interesting to me.
  • I want a clear view for myself, what the real difference can be for my course, developed as an e-learning course.
  • Exercise on practical tools like google-docs and chat. It will be the first time that I work on a text together with others in this way. I want to give good reflection on this, because I will be more involved in international cooperation on different themes and this experience is good, because we will use that more.

Week 6

Develop a competence based curriculum plan. I am strongly involved in the development of the curriculum plan at our University College.

  • The main learning objective is to translate all specific themes concerning e-learning into this curriculum plan.
  • Be able to get a real international perspective into my curriculum plan.

Week 7

I never thought or reflected much about using triggers. I find this very interesting, because with all the new media, visual or audiovisual input will become more and more important. I think in media courses and advertising, this must be a hot item. I was really impressed by the examples we saw in Bergen.

  • To have more background and knowledge about visual and audiovisual input as a trigger for reflection or comparative work.

Week 8

Build and structure own course. Feedback on task 5a
Make Trigger

  • To be able to use the right tools for the right goals. I learned now already that it is very important to think very good about this. Not only use the tools because it is nice to work with.
  • To be able to write a constructive feedback that is useful for my fellow student.
  • To be able to take account of the feedback of my fellow student.·
Week 9
  •  Have more knowledge about teaching approaches and learning styles and combine this with the things I read about e-learning.

  1. dear wim,

good to have that task done, isn´t it? :-) it was a lot of work for me, but it cleared things of the next weeks to come pretty well, I think it was the same for you, when I read your reflection here. Especially what you write about triggers is also important for me, I am trying this in my courses at the moment, as I will write in my blog right now!
Have you seen that I already openend a document on google-docs? or did I make a mistake and it didn´t work?

  2. Hi Wim
As I said in the msn today; I am really sorry for not commenting in you blog earlier! I read it Monday morning, but decide to look more into our Curriculum Plan and tasks; before answering you.
(And as thing turned out, I gave priority to give you students access to the McConnel readings; as this might be useful for your immediate work when I went into its learning Tuesday to my duties as your teacher).

But looking into you blog now; I find that you have made an accurate and well planned overview over how you will “work your way through” the different tools and tasks in the next weeks. Will you find the time to follow you schedule here, I anm sure you will get the possibility to learn what you need and practice what you want before the ending of the course!

I am glad to see that you mention reflections many times during you plan. This is very important; since this meta-reflection over both what you do, what you learn from this and how you can use this in your own teaching work is a central aim with our course (and as you know more about than me… this spiral of doing/reflections it is an essential part of the work with the curriculum plan of Community Work within VirCamp too!)
And even though you do not specify it, I think I can see (“I read”) that you will use your reflection-work when finishing task 1 of you final assignment,
So good luck with you future work Wim! Keep up the good work both as student in our course and as teacher in campus, - and hopefully both immediately benefit!
    Bests wishes from Grete Oline

(And I promise, next time you write in your blog I will answer immediately, and not post-pone it!)
